Cancer fund makes £30k at celebration

A NEWLY named cancer charity kick-started itself at a glittering ball in Chester.

Clatterbridge Cancer Research may only have dropped the word “trust” and unveiled a new logo but it has reaffirmed its commitment to cancer sufferers and their families and redoubled its efforts to fight the disease.

A star-studded gathering of supporters at Chester’s Queen Hotel dipped deep in their pockets to pledge more than £30,000 on the night towards the £2m a year the charity needs to ensure the continuation of its existing world class research.

The stars included familiar faces from Hollyoaks, Atomic Kitten, The Bill, Big Brother and Coronation Street.
