Enjoy a passion for fashion

CHESTER will be putting on the style again this month when the city’s fashion festival gets under way.

Chester Fashion ’08 will bring a host of fashion and beauty-related competitions, catwalk shows, makeovers and discount offers to the city.

The retail offers start on September 13 when shops all over the city will be putting together more than 50 exclusive deals on Autumn shopping.

On September 17 the Face of Chester competition will be judged at the McDonalds Blossoms Hotel in St John Street. Twenty finalists will be strutting their stuff in the hope of winning a year’s contract with Boss Model Management.

The Chester Young Photographer of the year will also be crowned at the same event.

Also on September 17 there will be graduate fashion shows at The Forum Shopping Centre at 11.30am, 12.30pm and 1pm.

There will be two fashion shows at the Forum Shopping Centre on September 18 and 19 at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

A charity fashion show takes place on September 18 at Eaton Estate with the theme Fall Woman at 7pm. Tickets include champagne and canapés and are £25. To book your place contact The Neuromuscular Centre, Woodford Lane West, Winsford, Cheshire CW7 4EH.

Fashion takes to the streets on September 20 and 21 when high street stores take part in mobile shows at 11am, 1pm and 3pm in Bridge Street and 11.40am, 1.40pm and 3.40pm in Eastgate Street.

From September 22-24 talent scouts will be out and about in the city looking for A Model in the Making. One lucky shopper will have the chance to win a one-year modelling contract, courtesy of Catwalk Model Management and £500 worth of photography, courtesy of Venture.

Model scouts including Hollyoaks make-up artist Lynne Davey and former Trinny & Susannah fashion stylist Emma Jones will be on the lookout for five models, male or female aged 35-45 and 5ft 8in or above in the Chester Grosvenor Shopping Centre from 10am-2pm.

On September 22 fashion students from Chester University will be designing a handbag and outfit for fashion week with the best designs being chosen by fashion stylist Emma Jones.

Fashion students from Mid Cheshire and West Cheshire Colleges will be showing their collections at Cruise nightclub on September 23 in a bid to become Cheshire’s Young Designer of the Year. For tickets call 01244 350 233 or 01244 408000

Art and fashion will merge on September 25 when artist Simon Claridge paints a live model in the Castle Galleries in the Grosvenor Shopping Centre at 6pm. Entrance is free but by invitation only. Phone Castle Galleries on 01244 345800 and tell them why you deserve a place.

Live models will be replacing mannequins in shop windows in the Grosvenor Shopping Centre on Friday, September 26.

The Grosvenor Shopping Centre will also be the venue for three fashion shows on September 27 and on Sunday, September 28 models will be walking around the centre offering fashion advice.
