Not closing – we’re on the move!

PARENTS of children at a Chester nursery school will be on the run this Sunday to promote its move to a new home.

Mums and dads of children who attend or have attended St Mary’s Nursery School will take part in the Chester Half Marathon or the Fun Run to let people know that the nursery is on the move.

The school will move from its St Mary’s Hill site to a new home in Handbridge next year.

The city’s only state-run nursery will then be based at Overleigh St Mary’s School in Old Wrexham Road.

Husband and wife team Alli and Justin Hancock will run the half marathon wearing the specially designed “We’re on the move!” logo.

The couple whose sons Davy and Tom have attended the nursery, have a third son Johnny who will start in September.

They are raising funds for the charity MPS, the society for mucopolysaccharide diseases, as their nephew has the condition.

Mum Jude Cotgrove, who is also running the Chester Half Marathon, will donate any sponsorship funds to the Friends of St Mary’s Nursery School.

There has been a school on the site at St Mary’s Hill since 1846 and a nursery school for 36 years. The move is part of Cheshire County Council’s TLC (Transforming Learning Communities) project.
