A ‘luvverly’ performance

GIRLS at Chester’s Queen’s School have been learning the social graces.

A cast of 65 students performed a production of My Fair Lady, the Lerner and Loewe musical made famous byAudrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison.

Year 11 student, Sophie Rowland, took the lead as Eliza Doolittle and thrilled the audience with her renditions of Wouldn’t It Be Lovely and I Could Have Danced All Night. Sophie recently won the top prize in the school’s annual festival of music.

Fellow Year 11 student Zoe Lambrakis played professor of phonetics, Henry Higgins, with Emma Dawson as the eccentric Colonel Pickering.

The show was directed by head of drama Lisa McMullin with musical director Rebecca O’Keefe conducting an 18-piece student orchestra.

She said: “The girls performed wonderfully all week and have been a delight to work with.”
