Store playing the generation game

MORRISONS in Chester is playing the generation game with its choice of charities to support this year.

The supermarket chain has chosen to support Help the Aged and ChildLine during 2008.

The campaign was kicked off at the Bache store with Audrey and Tony Griffith, the oldest working couple, dropping the first pound in the bucket.

Under the theme of Protecting Generations for Generations, the new partnership aims to raise vital funds to help combat abuse and neglect among two of the most vulnerable groups in society.

Morrisons is aiming to raise over £1.5 million nationwide as part of the campaign.

Esther Rantzen CBE, president and founder of ChildLine and an ambassador for Help the Aged said: “I am delighted that Morrisons have chosen ChildLine and Help the Aged as their joint charity partners.”

Graham Sutherland, store general manager at Morrisons, said: “We’re really happy to be working with such a great cause. In addition to a wide range of colleague fundraising activity, there will be many events and special products appearing in store over the coming months and we call on our generous customers to do their bit to help.”
