Company signs up to green scheme

A GREEN business in Chester’s countryside has confirmed its commitment to the environment.

Tushingham-based solar and wind power installer, Country Electrics, has become part of the nationwide Green Achiever scheme.

The firm says that with barely a day passing without climate change or other environmental issues being in the news, today’s consumers are taking more interest in the green credentials of the companies they use.

“By installing micro generation technologies we are helping others care for the environment, but as a company we need to look at our own work practices,” said Country Electrics’s Stephen Davies.

“We are making an effort to reduce waste, cut our energy consumption and switch to bio fuels.

“By displaying the Green Achiever logo, both our customers and suppliers know we take green issues seriously throughout our business.”

To be awarded Green Achiever registered status, a business needs to demonstrate how it is tackling recycling, waste management, the use of energy, carbon footprints, and carbon offsetting.

Director of the Green Achiever scheme, Mandy Stoker, says the organisation only registers companies which are making a conscious effort to be green.

“Being aware of how your company impacts the environment is the first step but we only award Green Achiever status to companies who can show us they have real intent to modify their practices where necessary,” said Mandy.

“I am really pleased Country Electrics has made the effort to join the scheme and hope other businesses in Cheshire will follow their example.”

Country Electrics supplies and installs a range of micro generation technologies including wind turbines, solar PV and ground source heat pumps.
