Woman dies after head-on collision

TRIBUTES have been paid to a woman who died after her vehicle was involved in a head-on collision.

Helene Dickinson, 34, from Handforth, Cheshire, was in a silver Land Rover Freelander when it was involved in a collision with a silver Lexus on the A550 Welsh Road, Little Sutton, near the Cheshire Yeoman pub at about 8.10pm on Friday.

At the time of the collision she was driving from the direction of the A540 at Two Mills with the other car, driven by a 42-year-old male from Buckley, travelling in the opposite direction.

Helene was the daughter of Sue and Barry, big sister to Caroline and girlfriend to Ian. Her family said she will be ‘greatly missed’.

She was looking forward to becoming an auntie and was a keen animal lover. Her pet tortoise Ralph and her cat Cora, with whom she shared her apartment, will be cared for by her friends.

Fire crews were called because Miss Dickinson was reported to be trapped in her vehicle.

North West Ambulance Service confirmed two patients were taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital. Miss Dickinson was in cardiac arrest and given CPR on the way. Doctors at the hospital were put on standby to receive her but she later died. The male driver was treated for minor injuries.

Witnesses are asked to call Western CID Roads Policing Unit on the 101 non-emergency number and quote incident 896 of February 3, 2012.
