QUEEN’S Park High School students are learning to fly – high – this week.
Young actors, singers and dancers have paid in sweat over the last term rehearsing for a production of the hit musical Fame which opened on Tuesday night.
More than 100 students are involved on stage and behind the scenes, with Anna Brodie (Year 10) and Will Jones (Year 12) taking the lead roles of Carmen Diaz and Nick Piazza.
Other roles include Aliko Mwambingu (Year 12) as Tyrone, Amy Bebbington (Year 11) as Serena Katz and Sheldon McGovern (Year 8) as Joe Vegas.
Director Matt Yeoman said: “It has been a wonderful experience working with such a large vibrant cast for the past three months.
“All of the students have shown great commitment to the show and have worked hard rehearsing after school and at weekends.”
Last year Ofsted noted the importance drama and music play at the school and commented on the quality of its productions.
Fame will be performed at Queen’s Park High School tonight (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) at 7pm. Tickets, priced £6.50, or £20 for a family of four, are available from the school’s student reception on 01244 981500.
