Hunt continues for fugitive Lee Ward from Blacon

POLICE are still keen to speak to Lee Ward more than a week after he was involved in a firearms incident at a Chester pub.

An altercation took place at the Waggon and Horses pub in Blacon on Saturday, January 14 and ever since police have been scouring the area on foot and from the air looking for Lee Ward, 30.

Detective Inspector Gwyn Dodd has made a further appeal to the community of Blacon to assist in tracing his whereabouts.

He said: “The community of Blacon has faced a significant degree of disruption in the last 10 days as the search for Lee Ward continues.

“We have carried out almost ten warrants and property searches in the Blacon and wider Chester area and are gathering more information in respect of his recent movements.

“We continue to act on all information that is received by our investigation team and encourage anyone with any information in respect of his current or recent whereabouts, to come forward and contact us.”

Lee’s brother Scott Ward, 23, was arrested by officers on Friday, December 20 in connection with the disturbance and later charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear, and affray and appeared before magistrates in Chester on January 21.

Inspector Steve Beddows, who heads up the Chester Outer Neighbourhood Policing Unit said: “For those who have offered us information and intelligence to assist the enquiry, we would like to offer our thanks and its encouraging to see the community coming forward to help us progress this investigation, locate Lee Ward and help make our community safer.”
