POLICE in Chester and Ellesmere Port are warning car owners be extra vigilant, following a number of reports of vehicle theft in the area.
Five cases of thefts from cars and vans across the vicinity were been reported this weekend, many of them from vehicles that had not been properly secured by their owners.
Detective Inspector Sharon Case said: “I cannot stress the importance of locking your car or van before leaving it unattended.
“Some people feel the temptation to leave car windows and doors open or unlocked whilst the car is parked on the driveway of their home which presents opportunist thieves with the chance to search through your car and steal anything of value, causing little noise or damage that would otherwise alert the owner to the crime.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101.
