Pupil of The Queen’s School, Chester, triumphs in National Cadet Orienteering Championships

A PUPIl of The Queen’s School, Chester, has proved she knows her way around.

Cadet Victoria Davies, 17, won first place at the National Cadet Orienteering Championships, which saw 285 competitors race for the title.

The colour sergeant, who is studying A-levels at the girls independent school, won the senior female event with a time of 39 minutes and 35 seconds, almost six minutes ahead of the next competitor.

She said: “I love orienteering. It’s a mental challenge as well as a physical one, and even though it’s an individual sport there’s great team spirit. It was really nice to win something in my last year – a great experience!”

Two other Queen’s School girls also took part in the championships at Warcop Camp in Cumbria. Lance Corporal Ankita Sahni, 16, from Chester, and cadet Elizabeth Wood Bowyer, 15, from Wrexham, took second place along with Victoria in the team event.
