‘Excessive’ signage agreed at new convenience store in Chester suburb

PARISH councillors objected when signage was put forward at a convenience store in a city suburb.

The application was put forward by Tesco at one of four new retail units built on the former Weston Grove Service Station in Weston Grove, Upton.

Tesco told planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council it was seeking approval for a cash machine sign, two opening hours signs, five other signs and car park signage.

Upton Parish Council argued the ‘excessive’ signage was not suitable for a residential area.

But the application was recommended for approval and the borough council agreed the signage could have consent.
