Plans agreed in Chester city centre for Primark link into former Brannigans night club

A CITY centre store has approval to extend into a vacant nightclub.

Primark, which occupies the former Woolworths store at 60 Foregate Street, has plans agreed for an extension to link into the former Brannigans nightclub at no 76.

An application for a change of use of Brannigans to retail was approved in September 2010, according to a report.

The link would provide a corridor between Primark and Brannigans to enable the premises to be amalgamated, planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council explained.

The flat roof extension, running for 13m, would be located in a recess at the rear.

Conservation officers at the council said the new build would be inconspicuous and had no objection although they pointed out an extension of that design would not usually be acceptable.

The link would be visible from the rear of Priory Place, the report stated, but it would not be unacceptably detrimental to residential amenity.
