Jigsaw Music Theatre Company presents The Snow Queen
THE artistic director of a young person’s theatre company is hoping for snow tonight.
Jigsaw Music Theatre Company presents The Snow Queen on Eastgate Street this evening and tomorrow and director Matt Baker admits it could be a mixed blessing if the weather took a turn for the worse.
He said: “If it does snow, the performers will be very cold, but it would certainly capture the essence of the story.”
The 45 youngsters, aged between seven and 16, will tell their version of the Hans Christian Andersen classic using only 10 white sheets as props.
Matt said: “In true Jigsaw-style we have adapted the fairy tale by drawing on our students’ skills.
“Mary Scott, one of our Jigsaw graduates, has written the lyrics to the songs and another, Natalie Wearden, has designed the costumes.
“Other graduates have helped with the direction and music.”
Jigsaw Music Theatre Company is the youth arm of Theatre in the Quarter.
To find out more about the company, call Julie Elston on 07747110933.
The Snow Queen performance is 30 minutes long and starts at 6pm and 7pm tonight and at 4.15pm tomorrow near Browns of Chester.
