POLICE are appealing for information after an 83-year-old woman from Handbridge had her purse stolen by two men purporting to be from social services.
The men called at the house on Hugh Street in late afternoon on Friday, November 25.
They told the lady inside they were from social services and needed to check on her.
She invited the men in who sat down in her living room. The woman went into the kitchen to turn her oven down and when she returned the men had gone and the victim noticed her purse had gone from the shelf.
One of the offenders is white, about 5ft 9in, of medium build and aged in his 30s. He had black hair.
The second offender is white, shorter than the other man, of medium build and also had black hair.
Anyone with any information about the burglary is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 524 of December 2, or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
