Fire drama at disused former Chester nightclub

FOUR fire crews from Chester were called to tackle a blaze in the old Brannigans nightclub building in Love Street on Sunday night (December 4).

The fire, which began in the second floor of the unoccupied building, was reported to Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service at 5.55pm.

Firefighters arrived and extinguished the blaze before clearing the area of smoke, while Cheshire Police closed Love Street in both directions.

A Cheshire Police spokesman at the scene of the incident confirmed no-one was found inside the building when firefighters entered, while an ambulance team had been deployed to the scene as a precaution.

He added a full investigation into the cause of the fire would be opened between the police and fire services.
