Chester King’s School pupils on history trip to Holland

HISTORY came to life for pupils from The King’s School on a recent school trip to Holland.

With the help of expert guide Colonel Storie-Pugh, students were able to gain insight into the history of the Second World War with visits to museums, cemeteries and battlefields.

They visited the Anne Frank Museum and the National Liberation Museum and paid their respects at the graves of two former King’s pupils.

Pilot officer CJC Walker, shot down in 1942, aged 21, is buried in Amsterdam while Major GW Cowley, former head boy and captain of cricket lies at Mierlo. They also visited cemeteries at Groesbeek and Oosterbeek.
