Music masterclasses at The King’s School and The Queen’s School

MUSICIANS at two of Chester’s independent schools have been playing with the professionals.

BBC Philharmonic Orchestra’s Steven Callow, Gillian Callow and Julian Gregory led a masterclass at The King’s School on Wrexham Road, while internationally renowned pianist Malcolm Binns shared his knowledge and expertise with musicians at The Queen’s School.

Queen’s student Áine Jackson, 18, is preparing to study music at Oxford. She said: “It was an excellent opportunity to work with a pianist of Malcolm’s calibre. He gave us lots of advice as well as giving insight to the music of Chopin and Debussy.”

Mr Binns also gave a public concert at Queen’s for Christ Church Community Centre in Higher Bebington.
