Hundreds flock to Chester Racecourse for Lions fireworks display
CROWDS packed Chester Racecourse and the City Walls to once again enjoy the city’s most spectacular fireworks display.
Chester Lions are always guaranteed to put on a tremendous show at the racecourse and this year’s event certainly went with a bang.
The popular annual event also featured a range of live entertainment including music from the Liverpool-based Junior Parker Band, a fire eater, stilt walkers, clowns, a fun fair and face painters.
Proceeds from the event raise thousands of pounds for local charities.
Past beneficiaries have included the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, the Countess of Chester Hospital, Miles for Smiles and Save the Family.
The Lions club has hosted the pyrotechnic extravaganza in Chester for about 45 years.
It began life as a community service project at Chester Zoo and moved to the Roodee 14 years ago.
This year Lookers, Renault/Nissan of Sealand Road in Chester sponsored the display in conjunction with Chester Rotary Club.
