CHESTER company Theatre in the Quarter has announced details of its latest production, due to hit Chester in three weeks time.
Star of Wonder, which will also tour Cheshire and Lancashire, has been created by the same artistic team that produced Silent Night (2008), Home for Christmas (2009), James and Forgotten Fortress (2010) for the company.
Writer Helen Newall, composer and music director Matt Baker and director Russ Tunney tell the story, set in 1899, of how the lives of a small group of music hall performers are affected by the introduction of a new act – an acclaimed female magician called Isis, the Star of Egypt.
Matt, who is Theatre in the Quarter’s artistic director as well as its composer and music director, said: “Star of Wonder is a really exciting project for us. It’s a fully professional production that combines magic and illusion with comedy, tragedy, music and sheer fantasy.”
Chairman Brian Pearson added: “Theatre in the Quarter continues to go from strength to strength. We are not only touring throughout Cheshire again this year, but are also taking Star of Wonder into Lancashire.
“We are delighted that the company’s artistic success has been recognised by both Arts Council England and Cheshire West and Chester as they have awarded us funding for a thrilling programme of work.”
