National Young Mathematicians’ Award being held for Chester primary school children

A NATIONAL maths competition for primary schools across the UK aims to find the nation’s best young mathematicians.

The National Young Mathematicians’ Award, hosted by Explore Learning and the NRICH Project, is inviting schools in the Chester area to enter a team of two boys and two girls to represent their school.

The first rounds will be held at the Explore Learning Centre in Caldy Valley in Chester on November 1, 2011.

The competition will be a series of events, the first round being a knockout round. Schools which perform the best will reach the regional semi-final where the UK’s most talented mathematicians will battle it out for a place in the grand final.

The final will take place at the University of Cambridge on December 7 with the top five regional winners.

Explore Learning Centres offer maths and English tuition for five- to 14-year-olds of all abilities and work closely with the local schools and communities.
