GIRLS at Chester’s Queen’s School celebrated autumn with a Chinese moon festival.
The festival (also known as the mid-autumn festival) is a popular lunar harvest festival among Chinese and Vietnamese cultures and was first noted 3,000 years ago in a written collection of rituals.
Girls from Years 7-11 celebrated during their Mandarin lessons by making paper moons and Chinese lanterns.
They also tried traditional moon cake and learnt about the cultural celebrations.
Sophie Bradshaw, 15, said: “The moon cake looked great and tasted good too.”
Alex McNee, 16, added: “I really enjoyed learning the story of the moon lady and the culture surrounding the festival.”
