NHS staff in Cheshire take part in Olympic-inspired event

THE Olympics came early for Cheshire NHS workers with a 2012-inspired sports day for more than 400 of the North West’s NHS staff.

The NHS North West Corporate Games involved hospitals and other NHS organisations from around Merseyside, Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

Former Olympic athlete Diane Modahl, who presented medals and trophies, described the ‘power of sport’ in bringing people together for the event.

The Commonwealth Games gold medallist told the nurses, doctors, secretaries, managers, paramedics and other health staff they were all inspirational.

The event was part of the region’s response to the NHS 2012 Challenge, which calls on health organisations to get as many staff as possible involved in physical activity in the run-up to the Olympics.
