Upton High School pupil goes coast to coast to help children

DURING a wet week in August, Zack Ravetz completed a coast-to-coast cycle journey from Workington to Sunderland, in aid of Children in Need.

Supported each day by different family members, he covered the 135-mile route in five days, finishing the trek the day before his 12th birthday.

The route made its way across the top of the Lake District and over the North Pennines and included a climb to 2,000ft on one of the wettest days of the summer.

Zack, a member of the City of Chester Triathlon Club and a pupil at Upton High School, conceived the idea while watching the BBC Children in Need broadcast last November as a way he could raise money for the charity.

Once all sponsorship funds are collected he will have raised more than £500 to help make a positive change to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people.
