TWO public exhibitions will be held this weekend over plans to build up to 100 homes in Tarporley.
Developer Fox Strategic Land and Property (FLP) will be at the village community centre on Friday between 11am and 7pm and on Saturday between 10am and 2pm.
Members of the project team will be on hand to provide more details and answer questions about their proposal to build between 80 and 100 homes on land off Nantwich Road, prior to submitting a formal planning application.
The 11-acre site is owned by well-known Cheshire farming family, the Posnetts.
A residents’ action group – Tarporley Greenfield Awareness Project – has been set up in a bid to stop the proposed development.
More than 500 people have so far signed a petition opposing the plan.
Parish councillors are also against the development and have been handing out flyers detailing their concerns and a questionnaire to gather the views of residents.
Members are opposed to building outside the area designated for development in Tarporley.
They also fear that the proposal, together with the Heathfields development and other land previously identified as available for housing, could increase the number of homes in Tarporley by about 20% over the coming years.
They argue that Cheshire West and Chester Council’s draft Rural Housing Strategy says there is a need for just a 12-15% rise and that is over 15 years.
