CELEBRITY chef Marco Pierre White and actor Mark Moraghan have been made official patrons of Claire House Children’s Hospice.
Hell’s Kitchen star Marco received the accolade for his consistent support of the charity and regular visits to the hospice and West End actor Mark, currently starring in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, was also recognised for his outstanding support.
Marco collected his award from Claire House staff during a visit to his recently launched Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar and Grill at Hotel Indigo, Liverpool.
Accepting the award, Marco said: “I feel very proud to receive such an honour from Claire House, when it is the families and children who are supported, plus those who work there day in and day out, who are the real heroes.
“The hospice is such a special place and it is truly humbling every time I visit.
“I take this patronage with pride and look forward to continuing my work with the charity.”
Masterchef finalist and Holby City actor Mark was presented with a certificate at a Dave Barron fundraising ball, where one of the prizes auctioned off was for Mark to return to the kitchen to cook for six guests.
All proceeds went to Claire House, which provides specialist and end-of-life care for babies, children and young adults with life-shortening conditions.
Jayne Dixon, senior event fundraiser at Claire House, said: “Having high-profile support from well known people such as Marco and Mark helps us to raise awareness of the hospice and encourages others to provide support in helping us to reach our £2.5m running costs.”
