Frodsham man avoids jail after pleading guilty to supplying and possessing cannabis and cocaine

A FRODSHAM shop worker narrowly avoided jail after pleading guilty to possessing and supplying cocaine and cannabis.

Umar Nazib, of Main Street, Frodsham, was arrested in June after police raided his flat and discovered dozens of bags of cannabis and cocaine, which he claimed were ‘for a friend’.

Appearing in Chester Crown Court on Friday, Nazib, who works at Premier Stores, Main Street, was sentenced to a 12-month community order, an activity requirement and 100 hours of unpaid work.

The court heard how in June police raided the 23-year-old’s flat, above the store in Main Street, and found three small bags of cannabis and 20 wads of cocaine valued between £300 and £500.

Nazib pleaded guilty to two charges of possession with intent to supply cannabis and cocaine.

Martin McRobb, prosecuting, said Nazib had received text messages asking him to buy a large quantity of cannabis, and messages implying he would be sharing the cocaine with a close female friend.

“The defendant accepts he would have sold cannabis in his possession to his circle of friends, and admits to supplying cocaine to a female friend,” he said.

“There is a lack of information, however, to the commercial supplying of cocaine.”

Sentencing, judge David Hail told Nazib: “You have been extremely lucky. Next time we meet you will not be so lucky, but I hope there will not be a next time.”
