YOUNGSTERS at Sandy Bear’s Nursery & Pre-school in Tattenhall have been doing their bit for the environment.
The children have been collecting and counting bags of waste which have gone off to be sorted and recycled.
Staff member Joanne Hutcheon, said the initiative had taught the children the importance of recycling.
She added: “This was an ideal opportunity to extend that knowledge and educate them in other ways to reduce waste and items sent to landfill.
“The response from the parents and other members of the community meant that the children collected a whopping amount of clothes, bedding, shoes, bags, belts and soft toys.”
The nursery was recently awarded the silver award in the eco-schools programme which is the largest sustainable schools programme in the world.
