Tarvin supermarket plan gets go-ahead

A SUPERMARKET development in Tarvin has been given the go-ahead.

The proposal, which will provide the village with a much-needed car park, was granted planning permission by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Delighted developer James Osborne says he already has a supermarket chain ready to take on the site, which is based at the back of 63 High Street.

He said: “We’ve got someone lined up to go in there – we’re 99% certain. But they don’t want to be named until it’s all agreed.”

The development, which includes 28 parking spaces, would see a pedestrian and cycle path link the convenience store to High Street, while cars would enter the store from the A54.

As part of the plan the offices based at 63 High Street, which have been vacant since 2006, will be converted into three homes.

Tarvin Parish Council gave its backing to the proposal in April, believing the development would help cure parking problems in the village.

Mr Osborne added: “We’ve had great support from the parish council, who have been fantastic.

“I believe Tarvin has been crying out for a convenience store and it will help the parking situation. It will benefit everyone.

“We’re champing at the bit to get started.”
