BLUE Planet Aquarium at Cheshire Oaks is being taken over by centurions and legionnaires as part of a special ‘Romans Weekend’ on Saturday and Sunday July 23-24.
The award-winning attraction is playing host to members of the Chester-based Roman Tours group throughout the weekend.
Visitors will be welcomed to the aquarium by a pair of Roman soldiers acting as door guards.
There will be the opportunity to find out what life was really like in Ancient Rome in the company of a Roman soldier and a doctor and visitors will be able to try on armour, see some real Roman artefacts and even mint their very own Roman coin.
Younger visitors will be able to sign up for their own version of Roman boot camp as they’re put through their military paces by a Roman soldier.
Blue Planet Aquarium’s Hywel Taylor said: “This will be the first time we’ve welcomed Roman soldiers to the aquarium and we’re all very much looking forward to meeting them.”
