Chester firefighters warn bored arsonists putting lives at risk

FIREFIGHTERS are urging bored arsonists to stop endangering the lives of Chester residents.

The warning comes after Cheshire firefighters were called to two small rubbish fires in just two days in Lache.

At around eight am on Friday firefighters were called to Sycamore Drive, Lache, Chester after reports of a small fire on the playing field.

When they arrived at the scene firefighters quickly put out the blaze which had been caused by burning rubbish in the field.

Red Watch Manager John Caulfield warned that deliberate fires like this were wasting resources and putting the lives of Chester motorists and residents at risk.

“Incidents like this mean that we are tying up a fire appliance which could be being used for other incidents,” said Firefighter Caulfield.

“We are driving from the station with our blue lights on to get to a rubbish fire, that is putting motorists and pedestrians at risk.”
