WOMEN around Chester are invited to take part in a training programme during the build-up to Chester’s Race for Life.
The programme, which will run until Chester Research UK’s Race for Life on June 19, is designed to produce a fun and friendly environment for women to train in.
Women of all abilities are encouraged to come along and join in. The midweek evening group met at Bishops High School Sport Centre on May 3 and will now be running every Tuesday up until the race.
Groups are also taking place every Saturday from 11am-noon at Chester’s Northgate Arena.
Councillor Samantha Dixon said: “This scheme is a wonderful way to bring local women together for a good cause. These groups provide a friendly and ideal form of exercise in the run up to Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.”
Lisa Corkhill, area events manager for Cancer Research UK, said: “These groups offer a fantastic way for local women to do a little bit of exercise in the build up to this year's Race for Life.
“It’s about women of all ages, shapes, sizes and fitness levels coming together to ‘join the girls’ and help beat cancer and these groups are an ideal way to get started.”
Participants will be charged £3 per session. For more information or to book a place contact the Sports Development Team at sports@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk.
