Curfew for Chester man who carried out unprovoked attack

A 21-YEAR-old man was put under a three-month curfew after launching an unprovoked attack on a motorist.

Samuel Stallwood, of Hereward Road, Chester, admitted assault and criminal damage at Chester Magistrates Court.

Prosecuting, Sue Gibson said: “The victim was sat in his car writing a Mother’s Day card at 1.20am on Sunday, April 3 when the defendant tapped on the window and asked him to open the door.

“Thinking he needed directions, the victim opened the door. Without warning, he reached in and punched him to the face several times.”

The victim’s phone, which was in his hand, was damaged and the screen cracked during the attack.

Stallwood was arrested at the scene and admitted he had been drinking but wasn’t drunk.

He couldn’t remember why he had been arrested and didn’t know the victim.

Defending, Howard Jones said: “He is ashamed of his behaviour. He doesn’t see himself as someone who attacks people for no reason.

“There have been no incidents like this in the past and he can only put it down to alcohol.”

He was given a two-month curfew, 100 hours of unpaid work and must pay the victim compensation of £200.
