TWIN sisters are seeking sponsorship to fund a volunteer trip to Ecuador this summer.
Niki and Chrissy McMahon, 21, of Great Sutton have been accepted on to the Volunteer Eco Students Abroad programme, but need help raising £4,500 to cover the cost.
“I'm so proud of them, I really am,” said mum Pat McMahon. “Any amount would be a real help.”
The former Ellesmere Port Catholic High pupils hope to spend August working on construction projects and teaching English in Misahualli village on the banks of the Amazon.
“They're so different. Chrissy is adventurous, but I don't know how Niki's going to cope without a street map,” said Pat.
“I can't wait - I'm just frightened of the snakes,” added Niki.
Brave Chrissy is going to great heights to raise money. She is planning a sponsored jump off the 1,149ft Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas during a 21st birthday trip next month.
Niki is currently in the final year of a psychology degree at Bangor University, while Chrissy is studying chemistry at Manchester Metropolitan.
Both girls volunteer locally in their spare time. Chrissy is a member of the Chester and Ellesmere Port Lourdes Group and Niki volunteers at a children's centre on Anglesey.
Volunteer Eco Students Abroad offers young people the opportunity to carry out hands-on projects in communities across the world.
