IT WASN’T just the sun that came out to greet The Chronicle at our first community roadshow in Tarporley last week – there were dozens of villagers too!
Thursday (March 24) saw Chronicle Country reporter Carmella De Lucia and representatives from radio station Dee 106.3, meet the community as part of a new initiative to find out what makes the villages in our area tick.
Joining her and the radio station team was Chester the Dee 106.3 cat for a live broadcast of the morning’s events.
And as well as picking up the latest edition of The Chronicle’s country paper, people picked up a free goody bag – including items from Skin Deep Beauty Spa and Tarporley Health Shop.
Carmella was overwhelmed with the response from readers who packed into Chestnut Pavilion to meet her for a chat about the new look Country edition.
One villager who reads the Chronicle every week said she felt it was now much easier to read the news on the new page layouts, and that we should rolls this format out to our other editions.
Another Tarporley resident said he liked the fact we were going out and about into the local communities to show people we are interested in all kinds of stories.
“It was great to team up with our local radio station, Dee 106.3, and to spend the day with Chester the Cat and Charlie, who gave hourly updates on air of the day’s activities,” said Carmella. We hope to visit other villages soon and to meet members of different communities.”
