YOUNGSTERS from the five primary schools in Blacon have been learning how to live a healthier lifestyle.
Children packed toothbrushes and toothpaste that will be dropped to pre-school children in the coming months as part of a project to improve dental health in the area, and Dee Point Primary School are providing daily supervised tooth brushing programmes in reception classes after Easter as part of the Smiling Teeth project.
The partnership of theŠfive primary schools has also been providing Healthy Families sessions and Packed Lunch Pals workshops to help children make better food choices.
The programmes encourage families to make sustainable changes that improve their health.
Children and parents have taken part in fun cookery, exercise and nutrition exercises as part of the Healthy Families sessions, with Packed Lunch Pals teaching children and their parents how to make up healthy packed lunches with Pip the Apple and Bert the Banana.
The sessions are delivered by dietitians, nutritionists and exercise instructors at Healthbox CIC, a new social enterprise based in Chester.
