CHESHIRE West and Chester Council are continuing the crackdown on dog fouling by holding a roadshow today (Thursday, March 31).
The Anti-Dog Fouling Roadshow will based in notorious dog mess hotspot, Allington Place in Handbridge, from 7.30am to 1pm, and council officers will be there to give advice and issue free dog waste bags.
Residents in the area are said to have shown concern that fouling is a big problem that spoil the council’s recent landscaping and play area improvements, due for completion later this month.
Despite efforts from many dog owners of picking up after their pets, there are still owners who do not, leaving streets, parks and countryside littered with dog faeces.
A recent Keep Britain Tidy campaign highlighted the dangers of fouling, after a two-year-old girl lost partial sight in her left eye after falling in dog mess.
The council hope the roadshow will bring together officers from Streetscene, Community Safety Wardens and the dog warden service, to spread the message that dog fouling is another form of anti-social behaviour.
A spokesman for Streetscene said: “Our campaign is not anti-dog, it’s about being a responsible dog owner and it’s important that we keep our streets and parks clean and safe places for people, particularly children, to enjoy.”
