St Thomas of Canterbury School in Chester gets into Comic Relief spirit

CHILDREN at St Thomas of Canterbury Bluecoat CE Junior School got into the Comic Relief spirit.

The school held a red-themed non uniform day and pupils were encouraged to wear their red noses for the day.

Teacher Paula Howard-Jones compiled a Comic Relief joke book with favourite jokes submitted by the children. Top contributors were Jemma Holton and Lucy McHugh who each earned a ‘do something funny for money’ certificate. The finished book was then sold on Red Nose Day.

The school also hosted a cake sale staffed by teachers and pupils, with hundreds of cakes donated by parents to add to funds for the appeal.

A group of musical Year 6 girls raised £162.30 by busking for three hours in Chester city centre, while Year 6 boys Tom and Dan Francis and Callum Bishop were preparing for a 6.5-mile night hike with the 8th Chester Scout group.
