Members of Frodsham and District Choral Society hit the right note with their fundraising concert

THE sounds of harmonious singing filled Frodsham after more than 100 singers descended on the town.

On Saturday March 5 music rose in the rafters of St Laurence's Church, Frodsham as 123 people joined together in perfect harmony.

The mass concert saw musicians travel from across Chester to join members of the Frodsham and District Choral Society to perform an evening of music for residents.

Meeting for the first time, the singers who were all aged between 20-90, took to the stage to perform two pieces after just three hours of intensive rehearsals.

The concert, which saw the mass choir perform Karl Jenkins' The Armed Man and Faure's Requiem raised £1,000 for the choral society to put towards new staging.

Speaking about the concert, secretary of Frodsham and District Choral Society Ros Rowe said: “We had one last year and only 80 people turned up to sing, this time 130 people came to sing, it is the music that is intriguing people.

“They had never sung together before, 132 is a pretty good turnout and our conductor Howard Kane led the workshop. The concert went really well, someone said our performance was as good as the one at the Albert Hall conducted by Karl Jenkins himself.”
