Chester choir A Handbag of Harmonies presents a cheque to Claire House Children’s Hospice

CHESTER singers are on song for local charities.

Women’s choir A Handbag of Harmonies presented Claire House Children’s Hospice fundraising director Pat Faragher and area manager Helen Carlson with a cheque for £1,000 during a rehearsal at Queen’s Park High School.

Pat said. “In a world where the current default position is doom and gloom A Handbag of Harmonies brings sunshine and light. Led by the inspirational Matt Baker the joy and pleasure they get from singing is clear to see and infects everyone in the room; it is food for the soul. “I would urge anyone who hasn’t been to a concert to go along to support these women who do so much for charity. ”

The choir will support Wirral charity Down’s Syndrome @ Wirral with a concert at Heswall Hall on Friday April 8.

Singing alongside the 50-strong choir will be 17- year-old Kate Nelson whose twin brother has Down's Syndrome.

Tickets are £10, including nibbles, from Nicky MacDonald on 07533 930 271.

The charity is a voluntary group set up by parents of children with Down's Syndrome 21 years ago. They raise funds to provide families with fun days, summer play schemes, discos, information and advice.
