Three students at Helsby High School have stepped up to become some of Britain's best young biologists

STUDENTS from Helsby High School are celebrating success after going for gold at the Biology Olympiads.

Sarah Feldman, from Kingsley, will be stepping on the podium to receive a silver medal for her scientific achievements this summer, while Frances Hut, of Kingsley and Connor Gamble, of Manley will be highly commended for their efforts.

The British Biology Olympiad tries to challenge and stimulate gifted students with an interest in biology to expand and extend their talents.

At an awards ceremony in London, Professor Steve Jones will be rewarding the students with medals and prizes for their achievements.

Biology teacher Mrs Jean Morris said : “The students have done exceptionally well. They had very little time to prepare for the exam as it took place straight after they finished their A-level modular exams in January.”
