HORRIFIC images of the devastation caused by the earthquake in Japan have inspired a Chester mother to help people closer to home.
Stacey Sanson, from Blacon, is hoping that hundreds of residents will walk the city walls in solidarity to show their support for each other and the victims of the earthquake.
The stay at home mother-of-two, hopes that the ‘commitment walk’ will help those who have been feeling helpless, traumatised and are even having nightmares about the traumatic scenes being shown in Japan.
OnŠ March 20 Stacey hopes that hundreds of people will join her and her family to walk the walls to pray, talk, and raise cash for much needed aid for the victims of the disaster.
“I know when I saw it on the news you can see some of the people stuck in their cars. I cannot be the only one who is feeling traumatised, a lot of people have friends and relatives out there.
“People have been coming up to me and saying we have got to do something to help these people. I have spoken to four mothers who told me they have been having nightmares and panic attacks about the earthquake.”
Stacey's children, Lorelai, one, and Heather, three, will be joining their mum in the walk instead of going to the zoo for the day, and afterwards they will be donating their trip money towards aid in Japan.
“People are reaching out to each other for support, they want to know why this wouldn’t happen here. It is so far away and completely out of our control.
Walkers will be meeting underneath the clock at 4pm on March 20. The walk is free but there will be the opportunity to donate money to aid relief charities in Japan.
Everyone who attends the commitment walk is responsible for their own safety.ŠŠ
