Cycle Sunday events at New Scene Centre playing fields in Chester

CHESHIRE West and Chester Council is organising a a free cycling event later this month to celebrate cycling in the city.

Cycle Sunday, which is to take place on March 27 at the New Scene Centre playing fields in Newton from 11am-4pm, will also honour the achievements of the Cycle Chester project.

There will be free activities on the day, including circus entertainment, vintage bike displays, cycle try-outs, and an appearance by the UK’s number one MAD mountain bike stunt display team.

Free family bike rides are planned throughout the day, with four starting times to choose from, and families can participate in either a four mile or an eight mile led ride through the Cheshire countryside.

The Cycle Chester project aims to make cycling a genuine option for all Chester residents.

There have been improvements to cycle routes and bike parking facilities throughout the city, and both primary school children and several adult groups have benefited from cycle training.
