Hoole primary school hits the high notes after winning platinum Sing Up award

A PRIMARY school is hitting all the right notes after being awarded a national award.

St Werburgh’s and St Columba’s Catholic Primary School in Lightfoot Street, Hoole has been named as a platinum singing school as part of the Sing Up awards, which celebrate and promote schools that put singing at the heart of school life.

They were presented the award as part of a celebration concert to showcase the school’s talent and they are one of just 62 schools in England to receive this level of accreditation.

The school’s singing champion Rachael Borman said: “After receiving the gold award in March, the school decided that to go for the platinum for the opportunity to work with other schools in the area on different projects and workshops.

“It has really given the children the chance to just enjoy singing and it has been nice to support other schools. Singing really has become part of everyday life in the school.”

The school received a certificate, plaque and banner marking their achievements and can now include a Sing Up Awards logo on their letterhead.
