A Frodsham couple who are hearing bumps in the night are spending thousands of pounds on hotels because they are sure the house is haunted
A COUPLE are spending thousands on hotel bills after ghostly goings on forced them to leave their flat.
Jean Marc Mariole and his wife Charlotte, who live on Church Street, Frodsham, have reported paranormal activity in their flat
The unexplained incidents include:
Fingernails scratching across doors;
Flickering lights;
Howling and screaming on the landing.
The French couple have been so spooked by the strange happenings that they have been leaving the house at night and sleeping in Helsby's Holiday Inn.
With hotel bills now totalling over £2,000 the couple are considering packing their bags and moving back to France.
But 64-year-old musician Jean Marc told The Chronicle how the couple had even had the flat exorcised by a Catholic priest because they do not want to leave Frodsham.
“We can hear people walking up and down the stairs, kids playing and a woman and baby crying.
“It is frightening, we cannot afford to go into a hotel every night, but here when you open the window in this part of Frodsham at night there is no-one around.”
The couple have even installed a CCTV system to monitor the thousands of orb-like apparitions that fly through the bedroom and music room every night.
Built in 1869, Jean Marc believes the flat is haunted by a ghost who loves music, as someone keeps turning the sound system and recording equipment on.
But after months of sleepless nights with doors being locked, cupboards being slammed and apparitions at the doorway, the couple have had enough and are preparing to leave.
Former model Charlotte, 53, said: “I was in the bathroom and tried to get out but the door had been locked.
“I was so afraid, someone moved the curtain while I was in the shower.
“I climbed on the sink and called for the neighbours to help me out.”
