A WOMAN who died after recieving serious injuries in a road traffic collision in Malpas has been named as Deborah Hewitt.
The 47-year-old, from Wrexham died on February 18, in Countess of Chester Hospital after being involved in a car accident on Wednesday (February 16) evening.
At just after 8pm on Wednesday, police were called to a collision on the B5069 Chester Road, Malpas close to its junction with Ebnal Lane.
A Silver Landrover Discovery driven by a 42-year-old local woman had collided with a green Ford Focus driven by a 47-year-old woman from the Wrexham area.
Twelve firefighters battled for 45 minutes to free the female driver, who was trapped in her seat by the steering wheel pressing on her chest.
Crews from Malpas and Chester Fire Service cut the roof, doors, and steering wheel from the green Ford Focus before they could reach the driver who was crushed inside.
Debra received serious injuries and was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital,where she later died.
The driver of the silver Landrover Discovery, a 42-year-old female from Chester, received treatment for shock at the scene, but was not harmed in the crash.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision. Anyone with any information is asked to call traffic police on 0845 458 0000.
