Hoole pub hosts grand final of The X-Factor in aid of Miles of Smiles

THE 2010 Piper X-Factor grand final took place in aid of Chronicle-backed charity Miles of Smiles.

A 160 strong ticket only crowd were treated to a night of fabulous entertainment by winners of the four qualifying heats held at the popular Hoole pub which has supported the children’s charity for more than five years.

Resident DJ Phil Hamilton introduced 13 talented performers and every act gave their all as they competed for the £500 first prize.

The six-judge panel, which included Dee 106.3 radio presenter Jamie Stevens, was unanimous with its decision and agreed with the public vote, placing youngster Lianne Turner third, winner of the 2007 final Dean Brierley asŠrunner up and the winner declared as 18-year-old Alex Keirl of Lache.

The management, staff Šand DJ Phil Hamilton helped to create a great atmosphere and a buffet, raffle and stand-up bingo featured in the interval.

A total of £800 was raised on the evening and Miles of Smiles’ Mick Hughes said: “The Piper has supported this charity magnificently over the years and they pulled out all the stops to ensure a great night was had by all as well as stumping up £250 towards the first prize.

“Well done to all the contestants who provided quality entertainment and to all the sponsors and local businesses who made sure that all competitors received a prize for their efforts.”
