Queen’s School students celebrate Chines New Year

STUDENTS and staff at the Chester’s Queen’s School celebrated the Chinese New Year, which starts today (Thursday).

The spring festival (Chun Jie) celebrates the beginning of the Year of the Rabbit.

Senior school girls sang and danced fan dances. Older girls explained the origins of the festival in Mandarin and lower school girls tasted Chinese sweets and created traditional arts and crafts.

Headmistress Sarah Clark said: “It’s not every day that you follow a dragon into assembly!

“The Queen’s School is delighted to be at the forefront of sharing understanding of Chinese culture, language and history in this area.”
