VIP comedy audience not laughing after opening night cancelled at new Chester venue

THE opening VIP night at Chester’s new comedy club had to be postponed after the venue was not ready in time.

Disappointed bosses at The Laugh Inn, Station Road, had been working through the night to refit the venue in time for today’s gala opening night.

But the electrics were not ready and the relevant safety certificates could not be issued. However, organisers promise the cabaret show bar will be ready for the opening weekend this Friday.

Due to perform this evening were Mick Ferry, as seen on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Alun Cochrane, a panellist on Mock The Week.

Most guests had been invited to attend free of charge from the brewery, local media, police and council. The handful of customers who paid will be contacted and offered free tickets as compensation.

The VIP night will be rescheduled for early next week.
