A MUM has been praised by Cheshire Fire Service for her quick thinking after discovering a fire in a bedroom.
The woman and her five-year-old daughter were at their mid-terraced home in Blacon Hall Road, Blacon at 11pm last night (Thursday, January 27) when the mother discovered the blaze.
Cheshire Fire Service Red Watch manager John Caulfield prised her actions.
He said: “She did exactly the right thing by closing the door before going outside with her daughter and calling us. This way, the fire was contained and no-one was hurt.
“The house had smoke alarms fitted which alerted her to the fire while there was still time to escape safely.”
Crews used breathing apparatus and hose reels to extinguish the fire and positive pressure ventilation to disperse smoke.
